Locks on, locks off

The brave, Josie Barr will be shaving her head on Friday 16th March 2012 to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.

This past Christmas, Josie lost her brother-in-law to cancer and was inspired by the courage and strength he showed with the physical and mental challenges he faced.

It is something I have always wanted to do and shaving my hair, compared to what Michael went through...well there is no comparison. People have been supportive of my decision, albeit shocked and think I am brave... yet hair grows back. What these people go through however is so much”.

Josie works in the Child Care Centre at Otway Health & Community Services in Apollo Bay and is particularly passionate about being involved in the Leukaemia Foundation’s “World’s Greatest Shave” given that Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) is the most common type of leukaemia in children, and the most common type of childhood cancer.

Otway Health & Community Services Child Care staff are joining her in the fundraising and will colour their hair on the day! We are going to make it a big event for the children, families and community in the gardens of Otway Health. Turn up for a sausage sizzle from 10.30am Friday 16th March 2012 and support this wonderful cause.
