Excitement abounds in Apollo Bay, with a Community Gym set to open next month

Otway Health is redeveloping the old Ambulance Station in to a fully-fledged gym.  This has been funded by a generous bequest from Dorothy Eichenbacher and is a fitting legacy for such an active and energetic person.  In 2013 expressions were sought for a suitably qualified person to lease the building with the sole purpose of operating the Community Gym as their business.   Lonnie Pitcher impressed the selection committee with over 10 years’ experience running his own business as a personal trainer in Geelong.  Lonnie's goal for Apollo Bay is to offer holistic-based services catering for all walks of life and will do this through education on nutrition, exercise and sustaining a healthy lifestyle.

Lonnie has christened his business 'The Gym - Apollo Bay' and will provide a gym, exercise classes, personal training, massage, health retreats and much more.   Early membership offers are available and Lonnie is excited to become actively involved in the community and forthcoming events within Apollo Bay and the surrounding areas.  All of these services are very much needed in a town starved of contemporary exercise facilities and community excitement has been growing with recent online activity announcing the start of the gym build to a fan-fare of support, ‘This is the most exciting news  I’ve had in a long time’ said one resident, ‘Fan-flaming-tastic’ echoed another.

A public open day for the Gym is scheduled for Saturday 13th September, where the Apollo Bay community can meet Lonnie, have a look at the gym and start getting fit for summer.
