The reappointment of Healthcare Imaging Services to provide radiology services from our Warrnambool Base and Camperdown Hospitals for the next five years includes a commitment to spend more than $2M upgrading MRI and CT scanning equipment. It will also introduce a new form of mammography technology enabling 3D imaging of breast conditions including breast cancers.
The appointment of Dorevitch Pathology to provide pathology services at both hospitals includes a commitment to upgrade laboratory instrumentation to provide quality pathology services well into the future.
SWH Chief Executive Officer John Krygger says he’s delighted with the results of these two detailed tender processes which have secured best-practice industry leaders.
‘For the past 20 years South West Healthcare has outsourced both of our diagnostic services to the private sector. We are pleased to advise that following this recent tender process we have achieved another successful outcome,’ he says.
‘Healthcare Imaging Services partnered with us to end decades of rural disadvantage in 2010 by bringing a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine to the region. It then supported our fight to secure an MRI licence to provide Medicare rebates for those MRIs. Now it’s going to bring 3D imaging to our doorstep. Its commitment to the region is unquestionable.’
‘Dorevitch Pathology, meantime, has a long history and vast experience in providing pathology services. It is the largest pathology provider in Victoria and the single largest provider of pathology services to the public hospital sector in regional Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne.’
Dorevitch Pathology commences operations on July 1. It has given an undertaking to the dedicated staff of current service provider, Healthscope Pathology, to provide employment opportunities for suitable candidates.
